Toy Story 3: Trailer Easter Eggs

Now, I cheated. I decided to watch the TS3 trailer before I saw the Double Feature in theaters, but I simply couldn't help myself. I still plan on seeing it on the big screen, but alas, I caved and watched the trailer online in glorious high definition.

But what happened after I watched it?? Well, I just had to go back in a search profusely for all the easter eggs that they most certainly included in there!! Even Lee Unkrich (the director) tweeted about having said hidden gems in there so I just had to go back and look. I'm sure a million other people have done this exact same thing as well, but I figured, hey, who needs to study for midterms when I can do this!! Hoorah!!

Anyway, here's what I came up with...

This shot is right near the beginning of the trailer. Do you see it in the right hand corner there??...

...a Mickey Mouse watch/clock. Completely glad they decided to make the easter eggs not simply Pixar inclusive.

This one isn't so much a hidden reference, as much as it is a nice little "blink-and-you-missed-it" joke that made me laugh. You see what the lowest line on the wall there says??

"Slink's Butt". Haha.

Now, in THIS one, it may or may not be what I think it is. Woody is in this box, and there is some sort of reference book next to him...

...and it says "Volume A  1"...now is this a reference to the classic A113?? Or is it simply just put there to lead everyone on...hmmm...

See Andy's map behind there as well?? See what places are "tacked??

Mhmm. Orlando, Florida and Emeryville, California. The homes of Walt Disney World and the Pixar Animation Studios. (courtesy of @mavrevmatt)

It gets interesting very quickly though with a few long establishing shots where I'm absolutely sure I missed some good references.

The ones that I caught though, are these:

The first potentially huge display for easter eggs is that first shot of Andy's room as a teenager.

I was able to find a couple here, such as the classic Luxo Lamp (which remains there from the time of the original)...

...and this one, I'm not so sure about but there are a couple of posters decked out on Andy's walls which resemble minor characters from previous Pixar outings.

This mosquito sure looks a lot like a close version of the one from A Bug's Life, no??

And you can't look at this poster and not think a monster from Monsters Inc. being attacked by those saucer thingys from The Incredibles right??

Then, once they switch angles, there are a few more "maybe" references.

Like the poster behind Andy's bed. Does it not look like something out of Monsters Inc.?? Opening titles perhaps??

Then of course the calendar beside his desk. It's going to be tough to convince me that that car is not the same model as Snot Rod from Cars.

Prior to this though, we get a view of Andy's Corkboard...

Notice anything on there?? Well, there's the schedule sponsored by Pizza Planet...

And, a more recent reference actually. See the postcard up there?? Yep. It's sent from Carl and Ellie Frederickson. An Up easter egg!!

When the children first book it into the day care centre...

You see Buzz's butt??

Yep. He's been branded by the ultimate brand!! (these ones are also courtesy of @mavrevmatt)

Now, they soon move on to the new day care group of toys, and this shot pops up:

I have searched high and low in this frame, and have come up empty so far. I am still looking though Pixar. I shant be giving up hope yet.

However, did anyone catch this?? Take a look at that picture panel of all the "items" like the apple, and guitar and whatnot...

...then, check it out a couple of sequences later. (to the right of the shot)

It has been reversed for the trailer!! Not really an easter egg, but a cool obsercation nonetheless.

If you look even closer though, there is a hidden character...

Yep. Nemo (or Marlin, if you prefer).

And the very last one that I could find, and I love it.

Buy N' Large, the Uber-Company from Wall-E. Of course they make batteries. They make everything!!

Anyway, that's all I can come up with at this time. I'm still going to keep looking though!! That one panel must be explored to it's depths!!

An Introduction

So, I created a new blog. My original one was getting to be too personal for stuff like this to be posted on, so I opted to just have a second one running. It will feature more pop culture related material in it, not really opinionated rants and what not, I'll save that for the other one. This one will probably be made up of lists and interesting observations about movies, over anything else. It may crash and burn, but hey, it'll be interesting for a little while!!
